Well, today’s tip is regarding couponing, surprise, surprise! First of all the cashier is NOT God. If you are trying to use a coupon and they are questioning it, and saying it is not allowed, ask to speak to a manager. You don’t have to be rude, just politely say I’d like to ask your manager about that.  Sometimes cashiers go by what they think is right, and they are NOT right.

Secondly, if you have a coupon in question, you aren’t sure if they will honor it, not sure how it works etc stop by customer service before shopping and ask.  I have done this many times, I have even had a manager sign a coupon so the cashier would know to accept it. I feel like by doing this step if the cashier questions it I can state I already asked customer service.

Thirdly, if you don’t want to hold up the line by getting someone elses approval then just set the issue aside and go ask the manager yourself when you are done checking out.  I have had good luck with the customer service counters fixing any and all problems.

Please always check your receipts.  Even though you just saved hundreds of dollars make sure it is correct. If they missed a coupon, tell them, they will fix it.  If they miss charged you say something. At Publix if is rings up wrong they refund you the full amount of the item back.  I  felt guilty once because I only paid $.50 to begin with and they refunded my full amount of $3.00.
