If you love smoothies you know they are not cheap to buy.  We like to make our own, we use recipes from the Ab’s Diet book. One of our favorites is the Peanut butter and jelly smoothie, I will put the recipe at the bottom of the post.  One trick we do to have the ingredients we need for smoothies is freeze the fruit.  When cantelopes were in season we were blessed with many, I cut them into chunks and froze them.  When banana’s go on sale I buy bunches, peel them and freeze them. 

Peanut butter and Jelly Smoothie

3/4 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt

3/4 cup 1% milk

2 tsp peanut butter

1 medium banana

1/2 cup frozen strawberries

2 tsp whey powder

4 ice cubes crushed

Makes 2 8oz servings
